What is drilling mud?

Drilling mud, also known as drilling fluid in petroleum engineering, is a heavy and viscous fluid mixture that is used in drilling oil and gas operations. And also there are three main types of drilling :

• water-based
• oil-based
• synthetic-based.

The purpose of Drilling mud

In oil and gas drilling operations used drilling to transport rock cutting to the surface, as well as to cool and lubricate the drill bit and clean the hole. In addition, it helps to lower and transfer the cuttings to the surface and control the pressure of the formation and improve the performance of the drill string and tools in the hole. Various thickeners are used to influence the viscosity of the fluid, e.g. xanthan gum, guar gum, glycol, or starch.

The chemicals that used in Water-based drilling

Also the chemicals that used in Water-based drilling mud most commonly are such as consists of Bentonite clay (gel) with additives such as Barium sulfate (Barite), Calcium carbonate (chalk) or Hematite. Water; It is freely available fluid and is primarily used in core drilling operation. It has very good cooling properties and acts as moderate lubricant and vibration dampener.

Difference between drilling fluid and mud

Both liquid and mud are used to drill boreholes but the composition is different. One term is often used for the other, but strictly speaking gaseous drilling fluid, using an array of gases, is a fluid. But fluids that are water or oil based are called mud.

Packing product

For Drilling Mud Packing used Jumbo Bags that made from Polypropylene, And also have Top and Bottom Spouts will be there for Filling and discharge. And for Emulsion products we use packing of 5 gallons, 20 Kg and 200 Kg barrel. All products are manufactured according to the standard specification.
