Description of Gasoil
Gasoil is a hydrocarbon oil used as a fuel oil. especially: a petroleum distillate intermediate in boiling range and viscosity between kerosene and lubricating oil.
Gasoil sits within the diesel fuel family, of which there are two primary types:Â
White Gasoil
White diesel is what is usually referred to as gasoil because of its use in automotive vehicles such as cars.
Red gasoil
Both red and white diesel are indistinguishable in their chemical form, however red diesel has had a red dye added to it so that it is visibly different to anyone inspecting it.Â
Is gas oil same as diesel?
In simple terms, yes gas oil and regular diesel (DERV) are virtually the same fuel, except gas oil is strictly prohibited and is only to be used in off-road vehicles. The reason for this is because gas oil carries a much lower tax rate than the regular diesel that you buy at the petrol station.
