Slack wax
What is slack wax?
Slack wax is petroleum product , it is the raw material of paraffin wax , its a mixture of oil and wax in yellow or brown color , it processed by pressing to decrease the oil content and discoloring by special powders after heating to produce paraffin wax .
All the types of it are used as blending components or waterproofing agents in the manufacture of various industrial products. Depending on the viscosity of the lube oil being de-waxed it is categorized in two types of light and heavy.
In light grades the melting point is 50-52?C where in light grades the melting point is 53-55?C is the heavy grade and their oil content ranges from 5.0% to 35%.
Uses of product
Slack wax is used in emulsions, construction board, matches, candles, rust protective products and moisture vapor barriers , polishes, inks, carbon paper and externally can be applied as good dust suppressants or controlled-release agents for various chemical and fertilizers.
Properties of product
Special features of it ,according to the way it is formed and its melting point:
- Water-resistant
- Thermal insulation
- Electrical insulation
- Lubricant
- Low density
- Melting without decomposition
Difference between slack wax and paraffin wax
The primary difference is the oil content, which ranges from 1% to 1.5%, and lower melt points.
It is essentially a cost-effective alternative to a fully refined paraffin wax.
Packing of the product
It is packed in new or second-hand 180 kg drums, ISO tanks, and flexi tanks. Each 20-foot container takes 110 drums.
Guaranty/warranty of product
ATDM ensures the quality of slack wax by arranging for an international inspector to oversee both its quality and quantity during loading onto vessels. Additionally, production is monitored through batch test reports by QC before shipping, guaranteeing quality standards compliant with ASTM.
