Density of bitumen
Density of different grade of bitumen
It’s important to note that different grades of bitumen can have different densities. For example, the density of bitumen is in range of 1.01 g/cm3 to 1.06 g/cm3, while viscosity grade bitumen can range from 1.03 g/cm3 to 1.25 g/cm3.
In the oil and gas industry, It is an important parameter that is used to calculate the volume of bitumen required for a specific application. Also used to determine the weight of bitumen per unit volume, which is important in transportation and storage.
It’s always best to consult with a reliable supplier or reference material to get the latest and most accurate information on the density for your specific application.
What is density?
Density, mass of a unit volume of a material substance. The formula for density is d = M/V, where d is density, M is mass, and V is volume. It is commonly expressed in units of grams per cubic centimetre. For example, water is 1 gram per cubic centimetre, and Earth’s is 5.51 grams per cubic centimetre. It can also be expressed as kilograms per cubic metre (in metre-kilogram-second or SI units)
The bitumen density can vary depending on its grade and temperature. In general, the ranges from 0.98 g/cm3 to 1.25 g/cm3.At room temperature, typically ranges from 1.01 g/cm3 to 1.06 g/cm3. However, as the temperature of bitumen increases, its density decreases. For example, at 150°C, it can be as low as 0.98 g/cm3.
Density of road bitumen
Bitumen density is between 1.01 to 1.06 (Kg/dm3)
It means that 1.010kg to 1.060kg is one desi cubic meter.
Each tons of asphalt needed 70Kg Bitumen and the rest is aggregates.
