Bitumen 50/70 packed in IBC containers secured inside a shipping container for export.

General description of bitumen 50/70

Bitumen 50/70 mostly using in Mediterranean countries and most of the refineries produce this types of bitumen which is soft penetration grade and using as paving grade bitumen suitable for road construction and repair also for the production of asphalt pavements with below technical specification. This grade of bitumen is mainly used in the manufacture of hot mix asphalt for bases and wearing courses.

Differences of  50/70 and 70/100

The viscosity of bitumen 50/70 is higher than of bitumen 70/100  which reduces the workability and the compaction ability of the bituminous mixtures. The stability values were considerably increased at all binder contents when the bitumen  was used due to the increase in cohesion force in the mix.

Softening point and penetration

Penetration grade bitumen supplied by ATDM is pure petroleum grade bitumen, manufactured from vacuum bottom by passing hot air. The bitumen supplied by ATDM is produced from remain of crude oil after cracking and removing hydrocarbon. Penetration grade bitumen 50/70 has penetration between 50~70 desi-millimeter and softening point between 52 ~ 58C. The penetration grade  has a thermoplastic property which is like as synthetic resin material which gets softer with heating and hardens when cooled. This grade of bitumen 50/70 has very strong viscosity compare to other grades.

Guaranty/warranty of bitumen

ATDM guaranty the quality of bitumen 50/70 with arrangement of international inspector to check quality and quantity of the 50/70 during the loading to vessel and controlling the production by QC by batch test report before shipping. We guaranty the quality to meet with ASTM/EN 12591.

Bitumen 50/70 is a medium hardness grade bitumen used in road construction, asphalt mixes, and waterproofing membranes. It balances flexibility and strength for many climates.

Bitumen 50/70 is intermediate — softer than 40/50 but harder than 60/70. It suits environments with moderate temperature ranges and mixed traffic loads.

The softening point of Bitumen 50/70 typically lies between 48 °C and 56 °C, giving it good heat resistance while maintaining flexibility.

You can order Bitumen 50/70 directly from ATDM Co., a reliable Iranian producer exporting via UAE and Turkey to global markets.
